Emergency Support Services:

Self-Help Groups:

  • Self-help groups are a great resource in conjunction with counseling. Self-help groups are free for individuals and led by a group of peers. The mission is to support the anonymity of recovery for all, typically based on the 12 steps recovery model. Recovery groups originally began with the establishment of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in 1935. Recovery groups have since expanded including groups with different recovery topics, such as (but not limited to): Al-Anon, Alateen, Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Gamblers Anonymous (GA), Overeaters Anonymous (OA), Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA), Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA), and more.

  • If you, or someone you know, are struggling with addiction, talk with your counselor about getting started with a self-help group in addition to recovery-based counseling sessions. Face to face self-help group options are available, in addition to online self-help groups. Check out the links below to find a group for you. If you are having trouble finding a support group for a specific need, please talk with your counselor to help you connect with the best resource.

“Addiction is the only prison where the locks are on the inside.”  – Unknown

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends of being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take the step.” – Naeem Callaway

Virtual Engagement:

Online Games

  • Games can be used between you and your counselor to help "break the ice" and encourage participation.  â€‹â€‹Games are used as a supplemental resource for part of the session, and as a way to promote engagement during the session. Check out the website below to explore some online game suggestions, and feel free to discuss implementing games in your session with your counselor!
